"KEEP THE LIGHT ON" How You Can Help Save Lives...

By: Holli Bee

"To many happiness isn’t something hard to find... but to some happiness never comes..."

Everyone deserves a chance to live a long happy life. For the last three years I have been involved with many different activist groups such as NRDC (National Resource Defense Council), Invisible Children and Peta to name a few. I believe that everyone, know matter what race, religion, sex etc. deserves an equal right and a chance to have a life that they’re proud of.
As many know through-out the world, hope for many is being lost due to problems such as poverty, environment, illness, government oppression and so many more struggles that are occurring as you read this article. I believe that there might be some small way for young men and women through-out the world to look past what’s only in front of them, and gather together and reach out a help-in-hand to those that are in dyer need of some hope.

I currently came across a picture of a musician that is well known in many areas of the world and under his picture he stated that; "They have shut off the internet and all international calls in Burma as the government brutally dehumanizes the people there. I know this is a small effort but maybe we can make a collage of a bunch of us with light bulbs - our show of solidarity - that they cannot turn the lights out. The world will be watching."

So what does this article ask of you? I am asking you the reader to PLEASE snap a photo of yourself, your friends, or your family holding a light bulb because sometimes the most simplest of things can have a huge impact on the world and those that it affects. It’s a good starter to see exactly how far something as easy as taking a picture, can help so many people so quickly if we all band together.

If you choose to help spread the word of reviving humanity, after you have taken the photo please set it as your DEFAULT picture so that not only you know that you’re trying to make a difference but the world can know as well. Remember a good solution started out with just ONE little idea.

KEEP THE LIGHT ON

"We have one photo... let’s see if we can make it a million..."

"Strung-Out Hearts" (work in progress)

No matter what I do, tears still haunt your memory

trying so hard to leave it behind

day-light disappears everytime...

so I'll force them to the back of my mind

destroying me until I'm numb inside

and this pad of paper is being left behind...

escaping the pain that's lodged within my eyes

Listening to the "solos" that understand

about "strung-out hearts" and "empty hands"

turn the beat-by-beat on high

drown my sorrows in the sky

I'm here and you're gone

Time to move on...

(I'm not really fond of what I got so far... and it's not really finished just yet so If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Thanks in advance for your replys and comments. :)

another note: Every time my heart is broken by a man, makes me feel like love isn't for everyone. Sometimes relationship won't work and they come to an end... and the man you were with hates everything about you including the sound of your name.

Speaking of the Memory you’ve left behind “In my blood-shot eyes" (NeW sOng)

Can’t take apart how I feel about you
Analyze all you want
I still can’t figure out why
I still cry over you at night

Things aren’t the same anymore
Sometimes it gets so bad
That I almost pick up the phone
Break open the feelings I’ve tried to hide
The Lesson has yet to be learned

Chorus:
Rip open this worried mind
Over think the problems that’s consumed me in time
“Be Strong” is just a phrase
Watching the tears disappear within the pillow case

Tear apart your constant lies
Reveal a barely beating heart that’s
Buried itself alive
  I know it’s strange
It’s just another way of saying “How am I suppose to love you?”
I’m supposed to love you?

I’m trying to control my fate
Discovery is too late to
Figure out what it is that you really want
“Split ends and blood-shot eyes”
Left over from this mess
That you called “happiness”

(and) Things aren’t the same anymore
Sometimes it gets so bad
That I almost pick up the phone…

Chorus:
Rip open this worried mind
Over think the problems that’s consumed me in time
“Be Strong” is just a phrase
Watching the tears disappear within the pillow case

Tear apart your constant lies
Reveal a barely beating heart that’s
Buried itself alive
  I know it’s strange
It’s just another way of saying “How am I suppose to love you?”
I’m supposed to love you?

A dysfunction of the Surreal Mondern day Lifestyle (NeW pOeM)

So many thoughts flooded my mind
as the rain hit the grassy terrain
the wind flew high in the afternoon sky
while I took one last breath
then it was goodbye...

to have left felt like a promise
a promise I had to kept to myself
to not return I had to learn
that life's too short to live un-traveled
to live life like you was a sin
of the heart, mind, and independent soul

so I picked up my wings and never came down
I never came down...

Here I am today standing on the front porch
that leads me back to nowhere
an empty place with two breadwinners to face
I'm not sorry for who I am
where I've been and what I've done
Life is short and days aren’t long
you want me to take one step at a time...
but I hold the truth of today's sonic youth
we're in a rush to grow and be heard
to be different and well seen
all I ask is for you to except me

I stand here today after all this time
between now and then
I've waited for you to look me in the eyes
and at least say you love me...

    I guess I’m home again.

**I really hope you guys enjoy this, writing is my life so hopefully I can connect and share it with others!

Kerrang! *The Secret life of Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump*

        May 2007 issue

The secret life of FALL OUT BOY's Patrick Stump.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

“I only get to pick one? Ha. Okay, that’s a really tough question as silly as it’s supposed to be. I’ll tell you what, one of the things that’s funny is that a lot of people would think you’d want to be taller if you’re as short as I am – I’m 5ft 4’ – but I don’t really mind that. I make a lot of jokes about it. But maybe a chiseled physique or I’d learn to shut up sometimes. I’m one of those weird guys where I don’t start talking a lot, but when I do you can’t stop me.”

What’s your filthiest habit?

“I wipe boogers under stuff! Sometimes on the underside of a chair or something. You asked”

How bad do a venue’s toilets have to be before you refuse to use them?

“We live in a venue pretty much, so you can’t be weird about using a public toilet. So it’d have to be pretty bad. There was this one time at this venue in Florida, there was this door that was sealed over and it was painted shut. So we got really curious and cracked the thing open. Automatically, we were knocked over with the smell! We peered in and there was a toilet that had been sealed off after someone had used it and it was very obviously years ago. There was a 10 year-old poop that had spread and molded all over the toilet. It was the most hideous thing I’d ever seen! That was a toilet that I probably wouldn’t use.”

Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever got lucky with a lady?

“I’m not that lucky of a man! Honestly there’s nothing that strange, in a car once, parked in a garage own by her dad! But it really wasn’t that exciting or crazy.”

What personality trait are you most proud of?

“I’m pretty affable. I don’t have a lot of enemies and I can’t think of anybody who I hate and who hates me. I’m sure there are people who hate me but you know. I don’t like fighting with people. I’m a pretty easy going guy to get along with.”

Can you Cook?

“Oh man, I can Microwave and… no, not really. But really I haven’t cooked pretty much ever. My mom used to make me help her stir-fry some vegetables sometimes. So I can kind of do that. When I go home to my place in Chicago when I’m not on tour I don’t cook. I can’t I’m horrible at it. Plus when I’m ay home time is of such a premium that I don’t really like to waste it. Not to say that cooking is a waste of time but I’d rather be doing other things. My brother has a theory that economies work best, when everyone is doing what they’re best at…”

What would you do if the lady you’re entertaining after a gig turned out to be a man?

“I’d be pretty bummed because I can’t remember the last time I entertained a lady after a gig! That would be devastating! I’d be like, ‘oh man, my luck!’, and then I’d be like. ‘Sorry dude, do you want to play video games?’”

What’s one thing you haven’t got that would make your life better?

“One of theses days, anywhere between five and 15 years from now or whatever, kids would be awesome. I’m only 22 though. I’d be a good dad but I’d be a total dork dad!”

A letter to The Early Show (Invisible Children "Displace Me") Speak up and Spread the word

Dear The Early Show News Desk,

My name is Holly Brown and I feel that there's a subject matter that truly needs to be discussed in the public eye. Before I even begin I want to thank you for even listening to what I have to say.

To start this off there is an agency called the "Invisible Children" and they are a globally affected community that helps men, women, and children from all around the world in the most awful situations get help for what they are dealing with. Whether it's by protesting, speaking out (like this), and many other authority friendly ways while getting the point across.

The main reason though, as to why I'm writing this letter to you is because we have a specific mission that the Invisible Children’s community are trying to accomplish called "Displace Me."

When Hurricane Katrina hit this country, we saw for the first time what a displaced America looks like. Now we’re asking you to voluntarily become displaced, leaving the comforts of your homes, to imagine for 24 hours what it’s like for the millions of people in Northern Uganda who have been displaced for more than ten years.

Displace Me” is the nationwide event giving Americans the chance to respond.

By traveling to one of our 15 camps and gathering together, the strength of our size will make a visible statement to our government and media that the citizens of the U.S. demand action in ending the war in Northern Uganda, in order to send the Acholi people suffering in the camps and the abducted children back home. The point is to travel; the point is to become displaced yourself.

Saturday, April 28, 2007 say “Displace Me” and leave your homes to bring them home.

By going onto the Invisible Children’s website at: www.Invisiblechildren.com/displaceMe

There is a video dealing with the entire subject and what it's exactly about. We need all the help we can get so please help us and help your fellow human being by taking part in this world movement of a better tomorrow.

Thank you and please consider this,

                                    Holly C. Brown

My Worst Reality (I'm already Dead) *Poem*

I've been torching myself for as long as I can remember
leaving scares so many eyes have yet to see
embracing life as long as god would let me
before my faith would lose it's place

so many nights I cry myself awake
because my dreams are worse than my reality
I dream every night for these nightmares to end
because every night they slowly start over again

everything is falling apart
it's been reality from the very start
there's no such thing as dreams
reality's stolen everything

so much for this
so much for pain
put myself through things I can't explain
I'm more confused than I was before
I can't take this world any more...

*This was written through a very emotional time, I guess to the point where I felt completely invisible to the ones around me, even the ones I cared about... but I guess hard-driven emotion with a hint of depression never hurt anyone, it only makes you stronger.*

Thanks for reading and please tell me what you think,
                                                                      - Holly

Just One Minute (Poem)

taking life as it comes
and day by day it passes on
being carefree like the birds and the bees
reality is shifting life
taking control of our children's minds

seeing all these problems
that each day throws at you
pressure to grow up
seeing what time can put you through
crying on the inside
but stone faced to the untrained eye

You can't control it
when life has it's affects
you can't console it
it's here with no regrets

one minute you're young and having fun
until the next you're a teen-aged mother
hanging on with so much wrong
why did I have to grow up?
this wasn't suppose to be me
I had so much now it's only my babies touch
and now I have nothing left in me....

taking life as it comes
and day by day it passes on
reality is shifting life
taking control of our children's minds....

Author notes:

( Are you ready to grow up? To have children, and start a life with all the problems of the world on you're sholders?
All I'm saying is think about what you're doing, before you do it.
This world can throw a lot of shit at you, so just make sure you know what your doing before you do something you might regret in the future)

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy it...

                                                                     - Holly
